Henty Library to be transformed into a Community Hub

Henty Public School welcomes eight new kindergarten students this year. Sports house captains were elected at a special assembly at the start of term – McKay House cap-tains: Taylor Clark and Amelia Edwards, vice captains: Jake Fifield and Casey Scott. Taylor House captains: Cal-lum Lieschke and Rebecca Brennan, vice captains: James Silvester and Darcie Kernaghan.

Applications for grants from the Henty and District Ben-digo Community Bank for community projects will open on Wednesday, March 5 and close six weeks later on April 16. The presentation night for the successful applicants will be held in Henty in July.

Update on Lifestyle Centre

The first step in rebuilding and refurbishing the Memori-al Hall into the Lifestyle Centre has commenced.

A false wall has been con-structed on the west wall of the RSL Room, which will be the archival library and of-fice. The computer for which we have obtained a grant , will be housed in this room and will control the swipe card entry, security system as well as other information.

St Paul’s Lutheran School

The school term has started full of promise in the art department for students and teachers at St Paul’s. Throughout the final term of 2012, the senior class under the guidance of Mrs Leticia O’Brien, was fully engaged an art project for the Henty Show. The pro-ject involved them creating an artwork to depict "The Year of the Farmer" and was to be constructed on wood using only natural materials (wool, seeds, grasses etc.)

Well Done Henty and District

In appreciation to the Henty District for their fabulous support of the "Pink" breast cancer fundraising under-taken late last year.

 

The support shown by the whole district has been phe-nomenal. So far over $8400 has been sent off to the vari-ous charities selected to sup-port in the name of breast cancer, namely the McGrath foundation, Cancer council, the BCNA and the Hilltop (Albury cancer carer’s ac-commodation centre) .
